“I was always fascinated by the scientific complexity and diversity of internal medicine, which requires extensive knowledge of the entire human organism. Today, I most enjoy helping healthy people stay healthy and helping ill people get healthy again.
“My philosophical focus is on being proactive about preventive medicine. It’s about better health through wellness planning. My patients have easy and immediate access to me any time for medical guidance without delay. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art medical care in a personalized, punctual, unhurried and respectful manner. In other words, the best healthcare available, with no compromises or excuses. “I like the diversity of patients, from young ages to great-grandparents. The complexity and variety of medical issues mean that I get to learn something with my patients every day. In addition, I love the opportunity to teach my patients to help them take more ownership of their health. The diversity of healthcare also requires a level of lifelong learning that we must continue if we are to provide quality care for our patients. Every year, I spend hundreds of hours reading and attending conferences to make sure I am providing the most up-to-date information for my patients. This keeps it interesting and exciting.
“My philosophy is to always treat my patients the way I want to be treated. I like to remind them that I work for them, and while I may not always tell them what they want to hear, I will always tell them what I would want to hear if our positions were reversed. This exchange of information can also best be done in an environment of mutual respect and support, which we work hard to maintain in our office.”
In his spare time, Dr. Oakes-Lottridge enjoys physical activities of almost any kind: biking, running, hiking and sailing with his wife and four children – even though the kids outpace him. He also enjoys traveling with his family and “staycations” at his home in Fort Myers.

“Wellness is defined as a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit. The constant pursuit of living life to its fullest potential. I feel this embodies my philosophy towards medicine. My goal is to help my patients achieve this balance by creating a partnership of caring, trust and respect with them. While managing chronic health problems is essential, I have felt that medicine is truly about prevention, education and collaboration with my patients to help them achieve their health goals. Through good nutrition, physical activity and available screening tools, I feel I can help my patients strive towards that definition of wellness. I take a holistic approach to the care of my patients as health is not just the absence of disease. My approach is to treat people the way I would want myself and my family to be treated."
